Liberal Democrat Councillor Anton Georgiou is calling on Brent Council to think twice about allowing even more development in our area, without demanding more investment in local infrastructure. Over the past few years, Alperton has seen a huge increase in the number of new tower blocks, but very little in the way of money for local residents here for the things they need.
Anton said, “Since being elected I have spoken to many local residents who are sick and tired of all the new building here without anything being done to address the big issues in the community.
I will oppose overdevelopment when developers do not accept that we need to deal with an already over stretched GP surgery, a lack of parking space for residents, no local leisure facilities, the list goes on..
There is a housing crisis in London, but these units will not help to solve it. Many are not affordable for local residents and there are far too few social housing units. This must change.”
Anton and the local Liberal Democrats are calling for a rethink from Brent Council, as this is getting out of control.
Plans are in the works for redevelopment of the Currys PC World site at 416 Ealing Road into yet more flats. The developer has published full plans here: www.maddoxassociates.co.uk/consultation
Anton said, “I believe it is so important that local residents are kept informed about what development is planned locally. There should have been a wider public consultation regarding these particular plans.”
If you agree with Anton and the Liberal Democrats that we need to demand more investment in our area before any new blocks are built please sign the petition below and get family and friends to as well.
The more signatures we collect to oppose overdevelopment, the more likely Brent Council will listen to our concerns.
